December 2004: CCP Results Book Now Available
A book providing the detailed results of Phase 1
of the CO2 Capture Project has recently been published by Elsevier.
This book provides a valuable reference for scientists, industrialists,
governments and companies interested in a cost-effective option for CO2

September 2004: CCP presents results at the GreenHouse Gas Technology Conference (GHGT-7)
The seventh international conference on
GreenHouse Gas Control Technologies was held September 5-9th in
Vancouver, Canada. CCP results were presented in a special session on
the first day of the conference and 20 papers were given on CCP-sponsored

June 2004: CCP holds a European Workshop
CCP held a workshop June 2nd in Brussels,
Belgium to roll out it's results to European stakeholders. Attached is
a summary of the meeting and all the slide presentations.
March 2004: CCP
receives further funding from the Norwegian Research Council:
The Research Council of Norway has agreed to
co-fund three technology development projects with the CCP in 2004.
These projects will form part of CCP Phase 2 and are:
- Pre-combustion Capture: SINTEF, Palladium
Alloy Hydrogen Separation
- Pre-combustion Capture: Hydro, High
Temperature Hydrogen Membranes
- Storage: SINTEF, Long-term Sealing

CCP held a workshop March 24th for North
American NGOs giving the results of CCP Phase 1 and seeking input to
the CCP Phase 2 (2004-2007) work program. A summary of the workshop is

CCP Rolls out the Norwegian
(NorCap) Program
In conjunction with the Norwegian Research
Council, CCP held a two-day Seminar to communicate the NorCap program

Presents at the US DoE's Carbon Sequestration Conference
In the USA, the DoE will hold the National
Energy Technology Laboratory's Second Annual Conference on Carbon
Sequestration in Alexandria, Virginia, May 5-8th. CCP will present
nine papers. Abstracts are given below:

The CCP presented two papers at the sixth
international conference on GreenHouse Gas control Technologies
October 1-4 in Kyoto, Japan. The papers are entitled "The CO2 Capture
Project: Meeting the Challenge at the Halfway Point" and "Study of
Very Large Scale Post-Combustion CO2 Capture at a Refining and
Petrochemical Complex". Copies of these papers are available below,

IOGCC Holds a
Workshop on Geologic Storage of CO2
In the United States, the Interstate Oil and
Gas Compact Commission (IOGCC) recently held a workshop on the
long-term storage of CO2 in geologic formations. Craig Lewis gave an
overview of CCP activities to date. A summary of the workshop is
attached.

CCP Receives more
European Union funding
The CCP recently entered into a 2.1 million
Euro ($US 1.8million) agreement with the European Union's Research
Directorate (DG RES) to study novel technology for reducing CO2
emissions. The project entitled GRangemouth Advanced CapturE (GRACE)
started January 2002 and will run for two years. See attached press
release.

CCP Receives
funding from the European Union
The CCP recently entered into a 0.46 million
Euro ($0.41 million) agreement with the European Union’s Energy and
Transport Directorate (DG TREN) to study the reduction of CO2
emissions using underground storage. The contract entitled “Next
Generation Capture and Storage” (NGCAS) started 1st October 2001 and
will run for three years. See attached press release.

Project holds Geologic Storage Workshop in Germany
The CCP held a workshop on the geologic
Storage Monitoring and Verification of CO2 in Potsdam, Germany in
early November. A summary report is attached. A full report is

Project receives US Government funding
On July 11th, the CO2 Capture Project (CCP)
signed a Cooperative Agreement with the US Department of Energy
(DoE). Through this agreement, DoE will contribute $5 million
towards the CCP's work to research and develop technologies to reduce
the cost of CO2 separation, capture and geologic storage.

The CCP is pleased to announce our newest
members: Eni and PanCanadian. This brings the total
number of participating companies to nine: British
Petroleum, Chevron, Eni, Norsk Hydro, PanCanadian, Shell, Statoil,

Project Outreach
Workshops
The CCP has hosted two outreach workshops.
The first was held October 3-4, 2000 in Washington DC and the second
in Amsterdam June 12-13, 2001. Each workshop was held for NGO's
and Academia to engage in a conversation with project members on CO2
capture and geologic storage. Summaries of these workshops are
available in the library section of this website.
